Membership
The Tampa Bay Boxer Club offers two types of membership
open to all persons eighteen (18) years of age and older who are in good
standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes
of this Club. The club offers a full membership in the category of family
or single and an Associate membership in the category of family or single.
While membership is to be unrestricted as to residence, the Club’s primary
purpose is to be representative of the breeders and exhibitors in its immediate
area.
A Tampa Bay Boxer Club membership (full or associate)
also allows its members the privilege to Futurity Nominate litters that
can then be shown in the Futurity competition at the annual American Boxer
Club National Specialty.
Types and Categories of membership
The full membership (be it family or single) allow you
to vote on any issues brought for a vote on or to hold an office in the
club. To become a full member you must attend a minimum of two meetings
before your application for membership is voted on by the membership and
you should attend at least two other meetings during the year.
The associate membership (be it family or single) does
not offer voting privileges within the club. Attendance at a meeting is
not mandatory to make application for membership. Otherwise the privileges
are the same.
Either type of membership requires you be sponsored by
two club members.
Dues
The dues are $25.00 a year for a family membership (plus
a $12.50 application fee, one time only) and $15.00 a year for single membership
(plus a $7.50 application fee, one time only). Membership dues are
paid annually and are due in April of each year.
Meetings
Club meetings are normally held the second Tuesday of
each month except for January, May and July. Guests are always welcome
to attend meetings to see what the club is about. Meeting locations
may vary each month.
Please contact our Secretary
to confirm the location of our next meeting.
Club Composition
The club enjoys a diverse membership. Some members
compete in conformation (Westminster type show) and performance competition
(agility, obedience, tracking, etc.). Several members compete in both conformation
and performance rings. TBBC sponsors members who wish to compete at the
annual Dog Obedience Clubs of Florida (DOCOF) annual competition. DOCOF
team members must be members of their clubs for six months prior to DOCOF
competition to be eligible to compete. For more information on DOCOF, go to: www.DOCOF.org
